In 2024, 37 teams (a total of 171 players) competed in a fun day of solving clues while they traveled around southern Denton County.
Challenges from last year
Let’s review, with help from PediPlace Clue Site Chairman Mike Schnittker, some of the challenges and contests from past years. They will give you a feel for the kind of fun you might expect at this year’s Amazing FundRACEr in The Shops at Lakeside Village.
“The game that I find most memorable,” Schnittker said, “was last year when we did the ‘Human Bowling.’
“We had one person sit on a furniture dolly while a teammate pushed them across a parking lot into a regular set of bowling pins. The pins were spread a little further apart than regulation. They had to return to the starting point and repeat the process until all ten pins were knocked down.”

This game will not be repeated this year but you can count on similar kinds of fun.
Past Clue Sites have included sports-related skills like pickleball, shooting basketballs, corn hole, frisbee-golf, and a few very strange “skills.”
One Clue Site required a team member to toss a water balloon into a bucket sitting on top of a teammate’s head. And one had two team members tie a pair of tights around their waists with an orange hanging between their legs. Why? To strike a croquet ball down a path by swinging the orange through their legs (no hands).
Another challenged a team member to crack an egg and drop it from a 6-foot ladder into a cup held by another team member — lying on a tarp. Bounce outs did not count. Then, the team members reversed roles to complete the challenge.
There have been escape rooms, trivia competitions, rebus puzzles, and a costume dance-off. And various combinations of all the above.
What former competitors say
“Our Bank of the West Team had a blast!” said one of last year’s contestants. “Family and friends joined us.”
“My family and I wouldn’t miss the Amazing Fundracer for anything!” said another competitor. “All of us love this event, and love this cause.”

“The race is definitely family fun. It’s a great time with lots of laughs and memories all supporting a really great cause and organization!” gushed a third 2024 racer.
While the names and locations of this year’s Clue Sites remain a tightly held secret, all do lie within the confines of The Shops at Lakeside Village.
After the completion of the Race, an awards party and silent auction will be held at the Elora Flower Mound clubhouse and pool from 4 to 6 pm. Food and drinks will be provided by Lakeside Village’s own Clink Wine Bar + Bites. A live band will perform.
“I’m really excited,” added Schnittker, “to see what games the Lakeside Village merchants come up with this year.
“I think it’s going to be a great event. I would love to see some Lakeside Village residents sign up and join in the fun!”
