Heads up! The Lakeside 5K and Family Fun Day has been postponed due to inclement weather forecast for Saturday, October 25.
Instead, the Fun Run (one mile), 5K, and two hours of family fun after the races will take pace on Saturday, November 1.
As always, the eighth annual event benefits Ally’s Wish. The award-winning organization based in Flower Mound grants wishes to terminally ill mothers with young children.
Registration opens Saturday at 6:30 am on Saturday, November 1. The Fun Run gets underway at 7:30 am near Music Series Plaza in Lakeside Village. The 5K starts at 8 am.
Winners will be recognized at the 8:45 am awards ceremony in the courtyard of 1845 Taste Texas.
The family fun starts at 9 am. A Dress Up Contest starts, a Dog Costume Contest, face painting, balloon animals, and bounce houses in the nearby Fun Zone.
It’s a day for running, walking, cheering, or sponsoring. But most of all, it’s a way to help create lasting memories for moms bravely battling terminal illnesses while raising children.
Click here to register online for the race, to volunteer, or to inquire about sponsorships.
Pick up your race-day packets at Trailhead Running Supply (2600 Lakeside Parkway #140) on Friday, October 24, 4-7 pm. They also are available on race day starting at 6:30 am.
An accomplished organization
Inspired by the late Allyson Hendrickson (read more), Ally’s Wish grants wishes to families. The gifts typically come in the form of services, gifts, transportation, or lodging. Wishes generally carry a value of approximately $5,000. Since the inception of Ally’s Wish, more than 400 families across North Texas and the U.S. have benefited. These wishes create memories in the moment as well as memories that can last a lifetime.
“We are proud to host this wonderful event for the eighth year,” said Jimmy Archie, developer of Lakeside Village.
“The mission of Ally’s Wish inspires so many. We are honored to be associated an organization that has given so many special moments to so many families.”
“Ally’s Wish is here to give terminally ill mothers memories with their kids,” said Missy Phipps, president and co-founder of the organization. “Memories that don’t involve hospitals and medicine and doctors and sadness.”
