The Lakeside Dog Park will begin welcoming canines (large and small) and their human partners on Monday, February 13. Then in the first week of March, Sunset Point, the eagerly anticipated lake-view deck at the south end of the Lakeside Boardwalk, will begin welcoming visitors.

Dog park
The dog park, located east of Lakeside’s central roundabout and adjacent to a heavily treed part of the Lakeside Trail, will offer lots of room for dogs to run, roam, and play.
Furniture (including Adirondack chairs, benches, and picnic tables) will available for dog owners to gather and socialize.
The small dog section is located on the east side of the park.
Dog owners must adhere to the rules posted at the gate (see sidebar) and administered by the Lakeside POA.
The dog park doubles as a retention pond required by the Town of Flower Mound to prevent flooding downstream. The dog park will officially open in the spring.
Sunset Point
Sunset Point will be as popular with humans as the dog park is with canines.
Constructed from Douglas Fir from Oregon, the 6,000-square-foot deck will offer visitors lots of room to enjoy the outstanding views of Lake Grapevine. Its three accessible levels feature bench sitting surrounding planters of verbenas, loropetalums, pink muhlys, and crepe myrtles.
The cedar elms and ash trees within the deck’s perimeter will be lit as will the steps between levels to make the plaza safe and enjoyable after sunset.

“Multiple picnic tables will be available in addition to the benches,” said Rebecca Everitt, development associate with Realty Capital. “That way, people can bring dinner or a bottle of wine to savor the view.”
Sunset Point was scheduled to open in December, but was delayed by design considerations.
“We opted for a more intricate design and decided on horizontal cable rails (rather than the vertical wrought iron rails in the original plan) along the perimeter of the deck,” said Everitt.
The cables are due for delivery in the final weeks of February.
“The cable railing will offer better views,” said Everitt. And the views are what Sunset Point is all about.
