His enthusiastic love for Lakeside Village was contagious
Lakeside Village resident Patrick Shaughnessy will be remembered at a celebration of life at 6 pm on Friday, July 31, at the Overture Flower Mound clubhouse.

Upon moving to Lakeside Village last summer, Patrick immediately fell in love with the community. And no one, absolutely no one could match his enthusiasm for meeting the people of Lakeside Village. And he couldn’t refrain from singing the praises of “the village” that had become his long-lost home at the ripe age of 80.
It was Lisa Marie Shaughnessy, a Lakeside Village resident herself, who encouraged her father to make the move.
“I told him he would love the sense of community,” she explained. “I knew he would love it because Lakeside Village made such a big impact on me.”
And it wouldn’t be long before Trevor, Lisa Shaughnessy’s nephew (Patrick’s grandson), moved to Lakeside Village as well. Three generations living and enjoying the community in their own ways. (As Lakeside Village resident Jack Eslick said, “You won’t see that at Robson Ranch!”)
Patrick would explain to acquaintances that he’d lived all over DFW, from Coppell to Highland Park, from Las Colinas to Southlake, but that he never loved a community more than Lakeside Village.
Those words were music to another resident he met while the two were walking their dogs on the boardwalk. Peter Stewart, president of Lakeside Village Partners, LLC, loved Patrick’s enthusiasm.
Soon after learning of his background in the radio business and advertising sales, he put Patrick to work interviewing residents and business owners. (For more on Patrick’s business accomplishments, see the obituary here.)
“He embraced the opportunity like he was 50 years old,” laughed Lisa. “It brought a sense of purpose back into his life. He felt he could add value to a community he absolutely loved. That was really important.”
And it helped Patrick meet more people and spread his enthusiasm even further.
To commemorate Patrick’s fleeting, but impactful, year in Lakeside Village, a leprechaun will be placed on a large rock near Lakeside Falls.
Spark had lots of love to give. To many, many people. And the love he gave was large, because that’s how Spark was born and raised. Right now I’m at a loss for words, except to say that anyone who knew Spark will definitely miss him. If the Irish ☘️ have a gift of wit, then Spark took second to no Irishman. He lived the love of Christ because he knew how to lift people up with encouragement. FX even let me play Sparks drums and never ratted me off. I’m just the dumb little Holy Family neighbor kid, but I’m thankful for the love Spark gave me & letting me visit him in Northridge, Ca. ( L..A.). Trip of a lifetime. I love you Spark and will never forget you. Only wish could have given you as much as you gave me, and all the Huyck’s.
It’s beautiful that you’re with your son Mike, FX &Sue, and Nana Sherman. Are they still singing: “” My Wild Irish Rose” up there with James Desmond singing tenor and your dad singing baritone? 😊🥲☘️. You made me rich. ❤️
We are very saddened to know that Mr. Patrick has passed away. We tried reaching him many times and calling him because we missed him , missed his jokes and how he will interact with everyone around him.
He will be forever remembered.
