Lakewood Park
The large green space on the north side of Lakeside Village (along Virginia Parkway), which we are calling Lakewood Park includes Lakewood Park proper (located at 2601 Stillwater Court) in the Estates of Flower Mound as well as a long strip that measures one-fifth mile by 30 yards wide (stretching between Canongate and Surrey) that border the original park on the south.
Playground equipment with an aeronautical theme, honoring the nearby Hilliard Airfield, was installed in 2020.
The long strip that Google Maps calls Lakeside Village Park at Virginia Parkway was added to the original park in 2014 at the request of Realty Capital, developers of Lakeside Village. Originally an abandoned right-of-way belonging to the town, the new addition doubled the size of the park and formed a connection between the Estates of Flower Mound and Lakeside Village. In many other parts of Flower Mound, a wall might have been erected instead.
The park features a long segment of the Lakeside Trail that stretches from end to end with mature trees that were transplanted in 2015 to provide shade.
