Northshore Trail is widely considered the premier hike and mountain bike trail in North Texas. You can access the trail directly from the Lakeside Village trailhead located on the Lakeside Village Boardwalk just west of Lakeside Tower (near the intersection of Edgemere and Loma Alta Dr.).
Wilderness, abundant wildlife, and expansive lake views delight hikers and mountain bikers as they pivot, brake, turn, balance, and strain to negotiate the 21+ twisting miles of Northshore Trail. Pausing at a rocky bluff overlooking Lake Grapevine’s vastness — exhilarated and breathing deeply — the wonders of Northshore Trail sink in.
Northshore Trail is a highly regarded hike-and-bike trail that features approximately 22 miles of trails in seven loops stretching over nine miles of Lake Grapevine’s north shore.
Mountain biking, hiking, and running as well as exploring, bird-watching (as well as other wildlife), and lake-viewing.
Northshore Trail is considered intermediate to challenging. The western loops are considered the most difficult and feature the most elevation changes. The trail includes rocky terrain.

Volunteers from the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association maintain the trail, and spend countless keeping the trail safe for riders and hikers. If you see a DORBA volunteer, please thank them for their work.
Mountain bikers, who outnumber most other users on weekends, are asked to be mindful of other users. One earbud is recommended. Hikers and explorers, likewise, should remain aware of their surroundings and other users, especially mountain bikers.
Dogs are allowed on the trail, but must be on a leash.
Yes, the Lakeside Village trailhead is located on the Lakeside Boardwalk just west of Lakeside Tower. The location is near the intersection of Edgemere Rd. and Loma Alta Drive.
