The Flower Mound Chamber’s annual awards luncheon attracted 200 to the Denton Country Club

The Flower Mound Chamber awards luncheon at the Denton Country Club in early February was nearing its conclusion. Lori Walker, president of the chamber, stood to introduce the day’s final award winner, the recipient of the President’s Excellence Award.

Lakeside Village Developer Jimmy Archie was seated at the Town of Flower Mound’s sponsored table with Economic Development Director Ray Watson, who had called earlier in the day to ensure that he would attend. They sat with Mayor Cheryl Moore, Town Manager James W. Childers, Fire Chief, and other FM staff.

“Chamber events are good for networking and the marketing of Lakeside,” Archie explained, “and I wanted to show support for the Chamber. After all, they always support us.”

After arriving at the Denton Country Club at 11:15, it became clear that the large crowd had come for the annual awards banquet. “Uh oh,” he thought, “this is going to be a long one. I may be late for my 1:00 appointment.”

As Lori Walker began describing the final award winner, Archie’s curiosity grew.

“This business,” Walker said, “is not just a collection of businesses, residential living, restaurants, entertainment, and parks; it is a cornerstone of our community, a beacon of hospitality, a lifestyle and a hub of activity.

“Through all of their establishments, they have woven themselves intricately into the fabric of our town. Their tag line is “Seeing is Believing — Live, Dine, Shop and Play!”

Archie’s face flushed. He had been snookered.

“They and their businesses,” Walked continued, “graciously open their many doors to host our Leadership Flower Mound Economic Development Day, our Junior Leadership Networking Class, our Government 12@12 Luncheons and Mixers, providing a welcoming space for networking and collaboration among our members.

Their community serves as the gathering place for our residents, fostering connections and service to the community. But their impact doesn’t stop there. They understand the importance of giving back, and they do so generously.

“Their community serves as the gathering place for our residents, fostering connections and service to the community. But their impact doesn’t stop there. They understand the importance of giving back, and they do so generously. Whether it’s through support for local nonprofits, schools, or community organizations, they consistently demonstrate their dedication to making Flower Mound a better place for all.”

Walker continued.

“Beyond their philanthropic endeavors, their project is a testament to innovation and creativity, offering events that keep our community engaged and entertained. And let’s not forget, they are nestled within one of Flower Mound’s most breathtaking locations, adding to the allure and charm of our Town.

“In honoring them today, we not only recognize their achievements but also express our gratitude for their partnership, their generosity, and their unwavering commitment to the betterment of Flower Mound.

“They exemplify the spirit of community,” Walker concluded, “and it is with great pride that we present Lakeside with the President’s Award.”

“It surprised me,” admitted Archie, “and was somewhat emotional that we would be receiving public acknowledgment in front of a lot of people, including town officials, for actually doing something good in the town.

“Yes, we get compliments here and there, but public acknowledgment like that was a feeling I don’t think many of us have ever felt before; I know I haven’t.”

Archie’s reaction may have surprised some. The moment revealed the heart and soul that Archie and his partners (Richard Myers, Peter Stewart, and David Stewart) pour into their work at Lakeside Village, along with Chief Marketing Officer Jordan Robertson, the Realty Capital team, and so many more.

And they still have big plans in front of them.
